Back in 2014, having learnt the 'Tour de France' was to arrive in London, I came upon the idea of riding three Transport for London Cycle Hire bicycles to Paris as a sort of 'cultural exchange'.
My next thought was to call my friend James at Cycle-Love and see if he was up for it? Without thinking he said 'yes' and that was it the foundations of our micro-adventure was set in place.
Having learnt that for the first year, the Cycle Hire bicycles were to feature apart of the annual London Nocturne night race. I figured that if Cycle Hire bicycles where to compete, someone at TFL was prepared to think 'outside the box'. Upon calling the media office at TFL, a few days later I had gained the blessing of Transport for London to provide us with three bicycles for our journey. A big 'tick' indeed! With TFL on board, it was relatively easy to connivence other companies to get on-board in supporting our trip.
Without much thought, zero training and little other consideration we planned a route, entering our nights Airbnb accommodation into Google maps and that was pretty much it- we set off.
